Ingredients:


  

  • Cabbage - 1/2 head
  • Carrot – 1
  • Tomato - 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
  • Black pepper powder – ¼ tsp
  • Chilly Powder – 1 tsp
  • Water – 5 cups




How to Make: 



  • Wash, peel, and dice carrots
  • Wash and shred cabbage.
  • Wash and cut tomato.
  • Add cut and diced veggies to a pan and 4 cups water.
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder and black pepper powder. 
  • Add a little water if it is too thick. 
  • Mix well and cook on low flame for 15 mins or until it comes to a boil.
  • Serve hot with salt crackers.

  • Split Pigeon Pea (Toor Dal split) – 1 cup 
  • Whole Pigeon Pea (Toor Dal whole) – 1 cup 
  • Tomatoes – 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
  • Black pepper powder – ¼ tsp
  • Chilly Powder – 1 tsp
  • Olive oil for seasoning – 2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves – handful (optional)
  • Water – 6 cups




How to Make: 



  • Lentils (Dal)– 
  • Pressure cook both split and whole pigeon pea separately, each with 1.5 cups of water and keep it aside. This lentil is used in almost all Indian homes daily as a part of staple food.


  • Wash, peel, and cut tomatoes into small pieces.
  • Sauté cut tomatoes with 1 tsp of oil and keep aside.
  • Add cooked lentils (pigeon peas) and 4 cups water.
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder and black pepper powder. 
  • Add a little water if it is too thick. 
  • Mix well and cook on low flame for 10 mins or until it comes to a boil.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with salt crackers.
